Current time is the time of change. Civilization is undergoing bifurcation, its future forms and ways of self-reproduction are not predictable. The human environments and ways of existence, self-understanding and self-preservation manners are changing. The transgression source is a complex entanglement of the scientific and technological progress and socio–economic public mechanisms, causing, on the one hand, the fulfillment of the Russian cosmists’ dream about the world and human transformation, and on the other hand, - a planetwide ecological collapse.
The human environment – the second and third artificial nature – is getting saturated with autonomous intelligent systems, the "information society"
of the first third of the XXI century is a transitional stage between the "industrial society" and the "superintellectual society of creators".
Discussion of the human role and future is inconceivable apart from the synthesis of humanitarian, technical and natural science knowledge.
The Samara University Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities is starting the regular scientific conference "Human in the Information Society" to discuss the changes that the human-being and society face, to find tradition-progress interaction points, to reveal the ontology of social processes through the convergence of the humanities.
Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Samara National Research University named after academician S.P. Korolev
